Was für ein üppiger Sommer: In den Gärten und auf den Feldern gedeiht es prächtig. Fast paradiesisch wirkt das Leben in diesem saftig grünen Bergtal. Doch mitten in dieser Pracht gilt es, Abschied zu nehmen: Die Familie, der wir im Gemüsegarten begegnen, wird bald in die Stadt ziehen. Der Vater hat dort Arbeit gefunden.
Was für ein Leben wartet dort auf sie? Die Gefühle der drei Geschwister schwanken zwischen Vorfreude, Aufregung und Wehmut. Sie besuchen zum Abschied nochmals ihre Lieblingsorte, treffen sich ein letztes Mal mit ihren vertrauten Freunden. Am Vorabend der Abfahrt geht am Himmel ein heller Stern auf – ist er gekommen, um Adieu zu sagen?
Die fein erzählte Geschichte über Abschied und Neubeginn lässt Raum für die Gefühle der Kinder. Die Holzschnitte, mit denen der Künstler Li Xiaoguang die Erzählung ausdrucksstark und detailreich bebildert, fangen die Lebendigkeit und Emotionalität des Moments ein. Unser inneres Auge füllt dabei die schwarz-weißen Linien der klassischen Holzschnitte umgehend mit Farbe. Zwei Jahre lang hat Li Xiaoguang an den Bildern zu diesem Text von Wei Jie gearbeitet. Das Bilderbuch wurde 2021 als eines der schönsten Bücher Chinas ausgezeichnet.

What a lush summer: things are thriving in the gardens and fields. Life in this lush green mountain valley seems almost paradisiacal. But in the midst of this splendor it is time to say goodbye: the family we meet in the vegetable garden will soon be moving to the city. The father found work there.
What kind of life is waiting for them there? The feelings of the three siblings fluctuate between anticipation, excitement and melancholy. To say goodbye, they visit their favorite places again and meet their trusted friends one last time. On the eve of departure, a bright star rises in the sky - has it come to say goodbye?
The finely told story about farewell and new beginnings leaves room for the children's feelings. The woodcuts with which the artist Li Xiaoguang illustrates the story expressively and in great detail capture the liveliness and emotionality of the moment. Our inner eye immediately fills the black and white lines of the classic woodcuts with color. Li Xiaoguang worked on the images for this text by Wei Jie for two years. The picture book was named one of China's most beautiful books in 2021.
