Arts by the River - Anyksciai, Lithuania

After many months with online sessions and seminars, I was finally able to share workshops in "real life" with Lithuanian and Latvian illustrators.

Arts by the River is an illustrators' residency, part of a children's festival, held in the woods, by the river, in a small city in Lithuania, called Anyksciai. Thanks to the council and the library there, we were able to organise this amazing Illustrators' residency for three days, for the first time.

12 illustrators from the region, two colleagues from Germany (Hendrik Hellige, Frankfurter Buchmesse) and Portugal (André Letria, Pato Logico) joined us. We browsed books, talked about trends, experiments, alternatives, potentials in the illustration field. And we had fun, above all. It was so good to get to know all these nice people. I would like to thank them and Justinas Vancevicius, from the Centre of School Development and Vaiku Zeme, for their enthusiasm, their curiosity, their hospitality. I hope this kind of events will continue next year.
