If the book ended here, it would have been a pretty fantasy, a miracle accomplished by a little pencil. However, this wordless album takes us one step further. We see how the birds flee in flight from the forest that is being felled. A truck transports the logs to a huge factory. What scary thing will happen in this factory? The machines inside produce pencils, like the one held by a girl in front of a canvas where she has drawn a forest.

Korean illustrator Hyeeun Kim reflects in this silent album on the environmental impact of our actions, even the most insignificant: sharpening a pencil or cutting down a tree is not the same as making a pencil or planting a tree. The question is: how to achieve balance in this vicious circle?"

Este libro comienza con una idea maravillosa. Alguien saca punta a un lápiz y las virutas de madera cortada, al caer, se convierten en ramas y hojas, que luego van transformándose en un bosque donde innumerables seres viven en armonía. Las aves despegan de forma espléndida cuando sopla el viento…

Si el libro terminara aquí, habría sido una bonita fantasía, un milagro logrado por un pequeño lápiz. Sin embargo, este álbum sin palabras nos lleva un paso más allá. Vemos cómo las aves huyen en desbandada del bosque que está siendo talado. Un camión transporta los troncos a una fábrica enorme. ¿Qué cosa aterradora sucederá en esta fábrica? Las máquinas del interior producen lápices, como el que sostiene una niña frente a un lienzo donde ha dibujado un bosque.

La ilustradora coreana Hyeeun Kim reflexiona en este álbum silencioso sobre el impacto ambiental de nuestros actos, incluso los más insignificantes: no es lo mismo afilar un lápiz o talar un árbol que fabricar un lápiz o plantar un árbol. La pregunta es: ¿cómo alcanzar el equilibrio en este círculo vicioso?
