"The elephant is sad. He has remained in the shadows, and does not speak or interact with anyone. The other animals try to cheer him up: the monkey, who knows how to tell jokes; the ostrich sisters, who are excellent dancers, and even the crocodile. But the elephant does not smile, nor does it move, it only sighs and remains in the shadow. Then a little mouse comes out of breath and sits next to the elephant. He just wants to rest. So the two remain silent. Later, the mouse tells the story of him, they cry and, finally, more relieved, they go in search of the mouse's house."

El elefante está triste. Se ha quedado en la sombra, y no habla ni se relaciona con nadie. Los demás animales intentan animarlo: el mono, que sabe contar chistes; las hermanas avestruz, que son excelentes bailarinas, e incluso el cocodrilo. Pero el elefante no sonríe, ni se mueve, solo suspira y permanece en la sombra. Entonces, un pequeño ratón se acerca casi sin aliento y se sienta junto al elefante. Solo quiere descansar. Así que los dos se quedan en silencio. Más tarde, el ratón le cuenta su historia, lloran y, finalmente, más aliviados, marchan en busca de la casa del ratón.
